Dwight Turner is an American actor, producer, director, and casting director. His acting credits include Chicago Fire, Terror Lake Drive and Bad Boys: Ride or Die, and he is the founder of Turner Casting and CEO of Movie Town Productions.[1]
Early life and education
[edit]Turner was raised in Hazard, Kentucky where he developed an interest in acting at a young age. He earned a BA in Communications with an emphasis in radio and television from Morehead State University.[2] He moved to Los Angeles shortly after college and began working professionally as an actor. [1] He later returned to Kentucky and settled in Shelbyville. [2]
Acting career
[edit]After moving to Los Angeles, Turner booked a national commercial at his first professional audition.[1] He later played Theophelies in The Deported and appeared on television in 1000 Ways to Die.[3] Turner also voiced Green Lantern in Six Flags Fiesta Texas's DC Comics Super Heroes Live.[4] In 2018, he appeared as Dr. Thomas Mabery on Chicago Fire in the episode “The Strongest Among Us.” Mabery was the physician who cleared Otis to return to firefighting.[5] Turner later had a recurring role as Ranger Washington in Terror Lake Drive.[6][7] He starred as Edward in the short film The Contradictory Couple, which won Best Short Film at Louisville's International Festival of Film.[8] In 2024, he appeared as a Newscaster in Bad Boys: Ride or Die.[9]
Producing, directing and casting
[edit]Turner also worked in other areas of the entertainment industry, initially in payroll at Warner Bros. and later as a content programmer for the studio. After returning to Kentucky, he founded Turner Casting and became CEO of Movie Town Productions. Turner Casting's projects have included casting a regional Super Bowl commercial for Clark's Pump-N-Shop.[1] Movie Town Productions’ first film, REP, a documentary following freshman Kentucky state representatives, was directed by Turner.[1]
