Davit Gogia (also spelled David Gogiya) is a legendary former Georgian football goalkeeper who achieved major success playing in the Soviet Top League during the 1970s. He was born in January 17, 1948, in Samtredia, Georgian SSR. His height was 1.80 m (5 ft 11 in) and his position was goalkeeper.[1]
Club Career
[edit]Gogia spent the golden years of his career protecting the net for FC Dinamo Tbilisi, where he made 175 league appearances across two stints. He was an integral part of the team during their historic first-ever European appearance in the 1972 UEFA Cup against Dutch side FC Twente.[2]
Before anchoring Dinamo Tbilisi's defense, he also spent time developing his skills and playing for other prominent Georgian regional clubs.
