David Repetti is a Chilean hyperrealist artist specializing in wildlife and pet portraits using colored pencil. Based in Santiago, he is the founder of the art studio Artes Calfun.

Early life and education

[edit]

Repetti began drawing in childhood and later pursued formal training at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, earning a diploma in Dibujo Artístico (Artistic Drawing). [1]

Career and style

[edit]

Repetti's artwork focuses on hyperrealistic depictions of animal subjects, particularly avian species such as owls, hummingbirds, toucans, peacocks, and kingfishers. His technique relies exclusively on layering colored pencils—specifically Faber-Castell Polychromos—on high-grammage paper without digital manipulation, templates, or reproduction prints.

He founded the studio Artes Calfun, under which he creates original, hand-drawn commissioned portraits. His work has received recognition tied to the biggest names in colored pencil in Chilean colored-pencil competitions sponsored by brands including Faber-Castell Chile, Derwent Chile, and Color Animal.

In addition to his studio practice in Chile, Repetti undertook an independent working retreat in Costa Rica, where he studied, rendered, and perfected original artwork focused on local fauna. [2]
