Following his departure from Fat White Family, Lyons began pursuing a solo career as a singer-songwriter and recording artist.

His debut studio album, SubSuburbia, was released in 2020 via Futureproof Records.[5][6]

The album received positive reviews from British music press. Reviewing the album for Clash, Robin Murray described it as “a treasure trove of clever lyrics and immersive imagery”.[7]

Lyons was also interviewed alongside artist Tim Noble by Hero Magazine.[8]
