Draft:Cup of Coa

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cup of Coa, Inc. is an American specialty beverage manufacturer headquartered in Kearney, Nebraska. Founded by specialty coffee entrepreneur Jasmin McGinnis, the company formulates and distributes water-soluble hot cocoa formulations for commercial food service networks, office beverage programs, and retail distribution.[1]

History

[edit]

The recipe for Cup of Coa was originally developed by Jasmin McGinnis inside Barista's Daily Grind, a specialty coffee house operator in Kearney, Nebraska, which McGinnis acquired in 2013.[2] Engineered as a water-soluble formula, the blend was created to eliminate the operational requirement for liquid syrups and dairy steaming during high-volume café beverage preparation.[2]

Following regional food service distribution, the brand underwent a national relaunch in 2018.[2] In 2019, the company's origins and manufacturing background were profiled in the Nebraska Public Media and PBS documentary series Nebraska: The Chocolate Life.[3]

In 2021, the business restructured as an Inc. It was subsequently selected for the Fall 2024 NMotion Accelerator cohort powered by gener8tor.[4] In September 2025, Cup of Coa closed a $750,000 seed investment round led by Invest Nebraska, with participation from Nelnet Ventures, Nebraska Angels, and private investors.[5] Former NMotion program manager Scott Kintner joined the company following the round as Director of Operational Growth.[5]

Operations and Distribution

[edit]

Cup of Coa conducts fulfillment and administrative operations out of Kearney, Nebraska.[6] The company manufactures commercial and consumer beverage formulations distributed across 49 U.S. states and five international markets, supplying independent coffee shops, corporate food service accounts, and retail chains including Nordstrom and HomeGoods.[1][6]
