Carl Johan Orrenius Skau (born 1977) is a Swedish civil servant and diplomat, serving as Deputy Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of the World Food Programme since 2023.[1] In June 2026, he was appointed Acting Executive Director, following the resignation of Cindy McCain.[2]
Early life and education
[edit]Skau grew up in Borensberg, Östergötland.[3] He is a graduate of Lund University, with a master's degree in political science.[4]
Career
[edit]Skau joined the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 2002, and has held diplomatic postings in Brussels and New York. He also served as the Deputy head of the European Union mission in Zimbabwe.[4] In 2017–2018, he was Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of Sweden to the United Nations during Sweden's Security Council membership.[5]
