The California Legislative Central Coast Caucus (CLCCC) [1] is a bicameral political caucus in the California State Legislature. The Caucus encompasses members and senators representing the counties of Santa Cruz ,Monterey, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura.

History

[edit]

Founding

[edit]

The Caucus was founded on March 16, 2023 with Assemblymember Dawn Addis and Senator Monique Limón serving as the Chair and Vice Chair of the Caucus. During the 2024 legislative session, the Caucus passed three priority bills. Assemblymember Gregg Hart assumed the role of Co-Chair of the Caucus in 2025. After Senator Limón became the President Pro Tempore of the Senate in 2026, , Senator John Laird became the Vice Chair. During the 2026 session the caucus sent 11 bills to the governor's desk with all of them being signed into law.

Goals

[edit]

The caucus aims to raise the profile of the Central Coast in the State Legislature by identifying and supporting policies and initiatives that would benefit the region. These policies include environmental policies, where the caucus has been vocal about their staunch opposition to the expansion of offshore oil drilling and any other policies that could jeopardize California's coasts.
