Birahi Karki

Birahi Karki is a Nepali singer, songwriter, and composer known for Nepali folk and modern lok dohori music.

He is known for Nepali folk and modern folk songs released on digital music platforms including YouTube and Spotify.

Early life

Birahi Karki is originally from Ligligkot, Gorkha, Nepal. He developed an interest in Nepali folk music from an early age. In 2053 B.S., at the age of 13, he performed his first song, "Sarara Minibusai Ma", on Radio Nepal during a folk song competition. He later became active in Nepali lok dohori and folk music programs.

Karki has credited his mother as one of the major inspirations in his musical journey and singing career.

Music career

Karki began his musical journey through Nepali folk and lok dohori music and gradually became known for his modern and traditional folk songs.

He began his musical career in 1997 through Radio Nepal folk song competitions. Over the years, he has released numerous Nepali folk and lok dohori songs and has also performed his own musical evening program, Ekal Saanjh.

His music is available on digital streaming platforms including YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music. His songs often focus on Nepali folk culture, emotional storytelling, love themes, and social life.

Some of his popular songs include Sunkhanima Sun, Mayako Naam Japiyo, Vandeu K Ho Maya, Junkiri, Mayalu Hajara, Narou Timita, and Rin Tirnu Cha Ghar Kinnu Cha.

Karki has received nominations and awards at Nepali folk music award programs including the Tuborg Image Awards for songs such as Sunkhanima Sun, Mayalu Hajara, and Junkiri.
