- Comment: The article reads like a company's about page, not like an encyclopedia, and has scant sources which aren't Benetas or closely associated with it. To improve it, I suggest changing to a more neutral tone (the article shouldn't sound like promotion) and independent sources (e.g. can you find articles about Benetas in the West Australian / the Sydney Morning Herald / similar?) to show notability. Benetas is an Australian not-for-profit organisation based in Victoria. Founded in 1948, it provides residential aged care, home care, respite services, and retirement living services across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria, and employs more than 2,000 staff.[1][2]
History
[edit]Benetas was established in 1948 by volunteers associated with the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne to provide support for older people in Victoria.[1] The organisation later became known as Benetas, reflecting a broader aged care and community services focus while retaining its Anglican heritage.[1]
In 2013, The Age reported on Benetas' 65th anniversary and its involvement in community and cultural programs for older Victorians, including a commemorative music commission performed at St Paul's Cathedral in Melbourne.[3]
In 2018, Benetas proposed a merger with Macedon Ranges Health. According to Herald Sun reporting, the proposal involved more than A$60 million in planned investment in aged care, retirement living, and community services in the Macedon Ranges region over an eight-year period, including expansion of the New Oaks aged care home in Gisborne.[4]
Services

Home Care
[edit]Benetas provides home care and support services for older people living in the community, including personal care, nursing, allied health, transport, meal support, and home assistance services. It is listed as an approved provider on the Australian Government's My Aged Care platform.[5][6]
Residential Aged Care
[edit]The organisation operates residential aged care homes in Melbourne and regional Victoria, including locations in Altona Meadows, Brunswick West, Camberwell, Clarinda, Glenroy, Heidelberg, Roxburgh Park, Frankston, Gisborne, Mornington, Traralgon, California Gully, and Kangaroo Flat.[7]
Respite Services
[edit]Benetas provides in-home respite, day respite, and residential respite services for older people and their carers in Victoria.[8]
Retirement Living
[edit]Benetas operates retirement living communities in Victoria, including Bridgewater Lake Retirement Estate, St John's Rise Retirement Village, The Oaks Retirement Community, Dalkeith Heights Retirement Village, Eastwood Retirement Village, and St Laurence Court Community.[9][10]
Expansion
[edit]Benetas has undertaken several acquisitions and development projects in Victoria.
In 2022, Benetas acquired Bridgewater Lake Retirement Estate in Roxburgh Park from Parks Villages, a transaction reported by The Senior.[11]
In 2025, Benetas announced the acquisition of Moran Roxburgh Park, a residential aged care home in Melbourne's north.[12] The same year, it purchased a development site within Keyton's Sherwin Rise retirement village in Wollert for a planned aged care home.[13]
In late 2025, Benetas acquired The Oaks Retirement Community in Croydon from Australian Unity.[14] In 2026, it announced an agreement to purchase Eastwood Retirement Village in Bairnsdale, marking its entry into the East Gippsland region.[15]
Research and Advocacy
[edit]Benetas has participated in research projects concerning ageing, social isolation, and technology use among older people. In 2013, The Age reported on a collaboration between Benetas and researchers from the University of Melbourne investigating whether tablet and broadband technologies could reduce social isolation among older people receiving community aged care services. The project was supported through university and Australian Research Council funding.[16]
Benetas also leads the federally funded Centre for Cultural Diversity in Ageing, which provides resources and support for culturally inclusive aged care services.[17]
