BPTC Sports is a German sports consultancy and football investment group based in Hamburg, founded in 2020 by sports executive Bernhard Peters and his son Jan Peters.[1][2]
BPTC Sports became publicly known in Denmark through the football investment company SSE22 (Sports Strategy Excellence 22), which was led by figures from BPTC Sports, including Bernhard Peters and Jan Peters.[2][1][3]
In 2026, SSE22 changed its name to Nordic Football Group, but continued under the same ownership structure.[4]
Through SSE22 and later Nordic Football Group, BPTC Sports became involved in the ownership of the Danish football club AaB and the Dutch football club VVV-Venlo.[3][5][6]
BPTC Sports has received extensive media coverage in Denmark due to their ownership of AaB and the club's sporting decline, financial difficulties and recurring protests from supporters directed at the ownership group.[7][8][9][10]
Involvement in football clubs

[edit]BPTC Sports became associated with AaB through SSE22, which acquired a significant stake in the club in 2023 and later became majority owners.[2][3]
During the ownership period, AaB was relegated from the Danish Superliga in 2023, promoted in 2024, and relegated again in 2025. During the 2025–26 season, the club failed to qualify for the promotion play-offs in the Danish 1st Division.[9][8][11][12]
The ownership period was marked by financial challenges, organisational changes and sustained criticism from supporters, sponsors and local stakeholders. Danish media covered recurring protests against SSE22 and later Nordic Football Group, including criticism from Aalborg's mayor.[7][8][13][14][15]
The period also included several changes in sporting management and coaching staff. In May 2025, head coach Kristoffer Wichmann was dismissed after 34 days following disagreements with the club's leadership.[16]
In June 2025, Jan Peters resigned as chairman in AaB, and SSE22 withdrew from the day-to-day management of the club while remaining majority owners.[17]
In March 2026, SSE22 rebranded under the name Nordic Football Group.[4]
VVV-Venlo
[edit]In April 2026, an investment group led by BPTC Sports acquired a minority stake in the Dutch football club VVV-Venlo.[18][5][6][19]
According to Danish media, the group initially acquired 24.9% of the shares, with plans to increase its ownership pending regulatory approval.[18]
