Armut.com is a Turkish online marketplace for local services, founded in Istanbul in 2011 by Başak Taşpınar Değim and Erol Değim. The platform connects consumers with providers across categories including home improvement, cleaning, moving and private lessons.
In 2022, it merged with Italian local-services marketplace ProntoPro, with the combined company operating across 14 countries following the transaction.[1]
History

[edit]Armut was established in Istanbul in 2011 by Başak Taşpınar Değim and Erol Değim.
According to accounts of the company's founding published by Wired and Forbes Italia, the idea developed after the founders returned to Istanbul from the United States and experienced difficulties finding providers for household and moving-related services.[2][3]
The platform initially focused on local service categories including home improvement, interior design and moving services.
In January 2014, Armut received an investment from Hummingbird Ventures.[4]
Funding and international expansion
[edit]In May 2016, Armut raised $3.2 million in a funding round led by AddVenture, with participation from Hummingbird Ventures.[5]
The company expanded internationally under the HomeRun brand. By 2020, it was operating in eight countries, after entering Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary that year.[6][7]
Merger with ProntoPro
[edit]In September 2022, Armut merged with Italian local-services marketplace ProntoPro. Tech.eu reported that the combined company raised €15 million following the transaction.[1]
Bloomberg HT reported that the company formed through the merger received a €15 million investment from ProntoPro's investors. According to co-founder Başak Taşpınar Değim, the funding was intended to support further growth. Following the merger, the combined company operated in 14 countries.[8]
In 2025, Corriere della Sera reported that the companies had integrated their platform technologies following the merger.[9]
Operations
[edit]Armut operates an online marketplace for local services. Users submit service requests, and service providers can respond to requests through the platform.[4]
The company's service categories include home improvement, moving, cleaning, private lessons and other local professional services.[2][1]
