Ambitious Impact (AIM) is a London-based startup studio that creates non-profit organizations focused on animal welfare, global health and development.[1] Previously named Charity Entrepreneurship, AIM was founded in 2018 by effective altruists Joey Savoie and Karolina Sarek.[2][3][4] Its current chief executive officer is Samantha Kagel.[5]
Background and Methodology
[edit]To date, AIM claims to have incubated 50 organizations, which have raised over US$68 million in funding.[6] Aside from non-profits, AIM has historically launched programs aimed at developing high-impact careers other outside of charity founding, including programs to train philanthropists and researchers.[7]
AIM's model centres on two core activities: identifying high-impact charity ideas through research, and supporting founders to launch them.[1] Charities incubated by AIM have been supported by several high-profile philanthropic organizations, including Coefficient Giving, the Mulago foundation, Founders Pledge, and GiveWell, among others.[8][9]
Their incubation program recruits individuals with an interest in non-profit leadership, and provides them with a cost-covered two-month program that aims to pair them with other co-founders and match them to one of the ideas recommended through the research. At the end of the program, prospective founders receive approximately US$200,000 from early-stage seed funders.[10][11]
Notable organizations incubated
[edit]- Lead Exposure Elimination Project (LEEP): An NGO working worldwide to eradicate the lead exposure in low-and middle-income countries.[12]
- Shrimp Welfare Project (SWP): A non-profit dedicated to increasing the use of electric stunning in shrimp production. It is an Animal Charity Evaluators recommended charity.[13][14]
- Fortify Health: A GiveWell supported organization working to reduce anaemia in India through flour fortification.[15]
- Suvita: An Indian organization supported by GiveWell, Mulago and Founders Pledge. The organization increases childhood vaccination rates by sending SMS reminders to caregivers.[16][17][18]
