It is much shorter now as a result. I read each cited article to confirm it supports claims. I removed or changed anything not supported. Note: I am a paid editor employed at Aircall. Aircall is a French-American software company that provides cloud-based telephone and AI voice agent software for businesses.[2][1] It was founded in Paris in 2014 and is based in Paris and the Seattle area.[2] In 2021 it became the sixteenth French technology start-up valued at more than US$1 billion.[3]

History

[edit]

Aircall was founded in 2014 by Olivier Pailhès, Jonathan Anguelov, Pierre-Baptiste Béchu and Xavier Durand. Its customers are mainly small and medium-sized businesses.[4] In 2016 the company opened an office in New York to expand in the United States.[5]

In 2018 Aircall raised €25 million from investors including Draper Esprit, NextWorld Capital and Newfund.[6] In May 2020 it raised US$65 million in a round that included the investment fund DTCP.[7]

In March 2021 Aircall announced plans to hire 300 people for research and development and for expansion in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.[4] In June 2021 it raised US$120 million in a round led by Goldman Sachs, which valued the company at more than US$1 billion.[3][8]

Scott Chancellor became chief executive officer in December 2023.[2] In January 2026 Les Échos reported that the company's annual recurring revenue had passed US$200 million and that Aircall said it had become profitable.[2] In September 2026 Pailhès returned as chief executive officer as the company shifted its focus toward AI voice agents.[1]

Products

[edit]

Aircall's software uses voice over IP and WebRTC, so it runs on internet-connected devices without a fixed line or an on-premises private branch exchange.[6][7] It includes features common to business phone systems, such as interactive voice response and automatic call distribution, and connects to business software including Salesforce, HubSpot, Zendesk and Shopify.[7]
