Comment: Sourced to routine coverage of product announcements. You are also not allowed to use Claude to draft article text, even if you rewrite it (it needed to be deleted rather than reworded). Helpful Raccoon (talk) 02:36, 8 October 2026 (UTC)
Comment: In preparing this draft, I disclose that AI assistance was used as follows: The first version of this draft was generated with an AI chatbot and was declined. I then rewrote the article text in my own words. After that I used Claude only to put my text into wiki formatting (citation templates, infobox, capitalisation of names), not to write new content. I then corrected factual errors and removed unsourced claims myself. Andreyny8 (talk) 23:08, 7 October 2026 (UTC)

AVX Sorter is an add-on manager developed by AVX Simulations, primarily designed to work with several flight simulator platforms, including Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, X-Plane 11 and X-Plane 12.[2][3] The add-on manager allows users to create profiles, switch between multiple sets of add-ons and enable or disable groups of add-ons.[2] The utility is currently compatible with Windows 10 and Windows 11.[4][5] AVX Sorter was AVX Simulations' first product; the developer has since released another utility called AVX Tune, a tool for testing flight simulator settings.[6][7]
History
[edit]AVX Simulations began as a project of two flight simulation hobbyists who were looking for a way to manage their large collection of add-ons.[6] They created AVX Sorter to help them locate the cause of crashes when using their simulators. The developers released AVX Sorter in July 2026.[8] At its initial release, AVX Sorter supported both the Microsoft Store edition and the Steam edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.[8][4]
The developers have continued to enhance AVX Sorter. By August 2026, it supported both Microsoft Flight Simulator versions as well as X-Plane 11 and 12.[3][9] Version 1.3.0 was released on 26 September 2026.[1]
AVX Sorter may be purchased directly from the developer's website or through several third-party resellers: simMarket, Just Flight and the X-Plane.org Store.[2][4][5][10]
Features
[edit]AVX Sorter is an application intended to help users manage their collection of add-ons. Its main functions include:[2]
- a "crash hunt" feature that sequentially disables add-ons to determine which one caused a crash to desktop[2][3]
- "Sim Guardian", an automated conflict-checking feature for installed add-ons[2][3]
- an automated backup centre that creates backups and logs each time an add-on package is updated or removed[2]
- multiple profiles allowing users to swap between different combinations of enabled add-ons[2]
- a livery manager, which lets users view and manage aircraft liveries[2]
- an airport map[2]
- for X-Plane specifically, a diagnostic tool that identifies potential problems with the simulator's configuration, and automatic repair of damaged
scenery_packs.inifiles[3][9]
MSFS Addons reported that disabled add-ons are not deleted but are instead placed in a managed folder, where they can be reviewed later for possible reinstatement.[2] The user interface is available in 14 languages.[9][5]
AVX Tune
[edit]AVX Tune is the second product developed by AVX Simulations, released at the end of September 2026.[7] It automatically records frame rate data with Intel PresentMon before and after a single settings adjustment. If the frame rate improves, AVX Tune recommends keeping the changed setting; if it gets worse, it suggests reverting to the previous settings. If there is no apparent difference in performance, AVX Tune reports the result as inconclusive.[6][7] AVX Tune also takes snapshots of the simulator's settings and control bindings, and monitors for updates to the simulator itself.[6] The developers have stated that the tool does not access the simulator's memory while running.[6] AVX Tune only makes adjustments in Microsoft Flight Simulator, and provides recommendations for X-Plane.[11]
Reception
[edit]Writing for MSFS Addons, Vasco Ferreira noted that many free utilities have historically been available for add-on management in Microsoft Flight Simulator. He evaluated how much value AVX Sorter offers for its cost (€12.99) compared with these free options, and identified the crash-hunt feature as its main distinguishing feature.[2] In a later article, he compared the method used by AVX Tune with another utility, AutoFPS, for measuring the effects of settings changes on performance.[6] Following AVX Sorter's X-Plane update, Flightnews24 published a review of its capabilities.[3]
