The Deadpool Killology is a succession of American comic book limited series written by Cullen Bunn and drawn by Dalibor Talajic. Published by Marvel Comics,[3] the first three series chronicle the story of an alternate-universe Deadpool (renamed Dreadpool in the third series), after being rendered fully apathetic and nihilistic, as he proceeds to take out every other hero in the Marvel Universe before turning his attention to the wider multiverse, while the fourth and fifth series serve as reboots, following other alternate-universe Deadpools who take out every other hero: one manipulated by supervillains enacting a version of the Old Man Logan plan, and the other taking out corrupted heroes from other universes.
The first four-issue series, Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe, was published in 2012,[4] followed by Deadpool Killustrated and Deadpool Kills Deadpool in 2013,[1][5] as well as the reboots Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe Again in 2017 and Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe One Last Time in 2025, the five series forming two trilogies each with Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe as their first instalments, the second trilogy called the Deadpool Kills trilogy.[6]
Dreadpool from the series was portrayed by Antonio Oliveira in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film Deadpool & Wolverine (2024).
Premise
[edit]In this storyline, the X-Men send Deadpool to a mental hospital for therapy. The doctor treating him is actually Psycho-Man in disguise, who attempts to torture and brainwash Deadpool into becoming his personal minion. The procedure fails but leaves Deadpool even more mentally unhinged, erasing the "serious" and "Screwball" voices in his head and replacing them with a voice that only wants destruction. Under "Evil Voice's" influence, Deadpool develops a more nihilistic world view and as a result, after killing Psycho-Man by repeatedly smashing him against a desk, (and after he burns the hospital by using gasoline) he begins assassinating every superhero and supervillain on Earth, starting with the Fantastic Four and even killing the Watcher, in an apparent attempt to rebel against his comic book creators. The book ends with him breaking into the "real" world and confronting the Marvel writers and artists who are writing the book. He says to the reader that once he is done with this universe, "I'll find you soon enough.".[7]
In this storyline, as the Deadpool who killed the Marvel Universe seeks to wipe out the "Ideaverse" beyond the Marvel Multiverse by killing the legendary figures who inspired their creation, reinforcing himself with the genetics of Frankenstein's Monster, he is opposed by a time-travelling Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, who enlist Beowulf, Hua Mulan, and Natty Bumppo in an attempt to stop him.
In this storyline, the murderous, nihilistic Deadpool of Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe and Deadpool Killustrated, now called "Dreadpool", aims to hunt down all versions of Deadpool in an attempt to finally end his existence, facing off against the main continuity "Merc With A Mouth" Deadpool of Earth-616, who is recruited by the Deadpool Corps during a battle with ULTIMATUM. After the Deadpool Corps are killed in the process, Deadpool faces off against Dreadpool himself, who is eventually shown the error of his ways and killed by Deadpool in vengeance for causing the death of his friends. However, after Deadpool finds his way back to his universe, Dreadpool is revealed to the reader to still be alive and scheming.
In this storyline, a new Deadpool from another alternate universe is brainwashed by the supervillains of the world (in an enaction of the Wolverine: Old Man Logan plan that usually leads to the creation of the Wastelands) in killing the superheroes of the world one-by-one, while thinking himself to be helping them within his mind. As Mr. Knight investigates who is killing the world's heroes with his assistant Gwen Poole, Gwen is eventually left as the only surviving hero, sacrificing herself to reverse Deadpool's brainwashing and turn the assassin against the world's villains. While sparing Magneto, Deadpool takes out every other villain, concluding with Red Skull, whose head proceeds to speak to him, leaving it ambiguous as to whether or not he was actually freed.
In this storyline, another depressed Deadpool from yet another alternate universe is tasked with killing corrupted superheroes from all across the multiverse.[6]
