Bredbo River, a perennial stream that is part of the Murrumbidgee catchment within the Murray–Darling basin, is located in the Monaro region of New South Wales, Australia.
Location and features
[edit]The river rises on the western slopes of the Great Dividing Range at Bald Hill and flows generally west, joined by seven tributaries including Strike-a-Light River, before reaching its confluence with the Murrumbidgee River about 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) south–east of Bredbo,[3] descending 688 metres (2,257 ft) over its 52-kilometre (32 mi) course.[2]
The river flows through the town of Bredbo, from where it draws its name, an Aboriginal word meaning joining of waters.[1]
