The purpose of this discussion page is to select 50,000 topics for which Wikipedia should have high-quality articles.

1. Before being closed as passed, a Level 5 discussion must:

Compared to computing technology articles, the consumer electronics stuff we list is lacking. There are many devices and concepts found in a common living room that we don't have here. I think we should balance this out - I find all of these proposals equally vital to stuff we already list for computing technology.

Cahora Bassa ◎ 5 is listed on the Technology page under “Dams”. The problem is that it’s a reservoir formed by a dam, like Lake Mead ◎ 5 and Lake Volta ◎ 4, which are both listed on the Geography-Physical page under “Lakes”. The dam is covered by a separate article, Cahora Bassa Dam , and seems fairly important too. This should either be moved to the Lakes section, or swapped with Cahora Bassa Dam .

Windows media player is known by virtually everyone and all cultures who had/has a windows computer, and was in many ways, synonymous with music and it’s industry as a whole alongside software such as Napster or Winamp, before services such as spotify and youtube took over.

WMP has an extensive history spanning from it’s early days in windows 95/98, to the massively popular WMP 8/9/10, preinstalled on Windows XP, which was used in over 1 billion computers, to the WMP 12 we see today since Windows 7. Over it’s history, WMP introduced and popularized many features and habits to the masses, such as media library organization, the act of CD ripping, music visualizations such as Alchemy or Battery, and more.

There were also many skins during WMP’s hayday, spanning almost all popular aesthetics during that timeframe, such as Y2K, McBling, or even Frutiger Aero to name a few. Very few media players ever matched the extensive skin support from official companies, such as Nintendo, Valve, Nvidia, or Disney to name a few, releasing skins for various IP’s such as NSMB, Half Life 2, Age of Mythology, and more.

Drawing comparisons here, VLC media player ◎ 5 was introduced a bit later during 2001, and featured many of the same features. VLC however, had extensive built-in codec support without the use of third-party codec bundles such as k-lite, making it more convenient to play many niche formats and codecs. However, VLC was never preinstalled on windows, making it much less popular during the early and mid-2000’s, though this would soon change, being released for other platforms such as Android, macOS, and Linux.

WMP is still preinstalled on Windows to this day, despite it’s 2022 successor, and is still used by many people to this day, If VLC media player was able to get level 5 vital article status, so shall Windows Media Player, due to it’s significance to computing and music as a whole to the general masses back then.

Relational database pretty much puts this approach into a Database ◎ 4 which is also extremely important to this field. Both are top-importance on WikiProject Computer Science. Swap Port of Barcelona ◎ 5 with Port of Antwerp 

Among the dozen or so ports we have listed, the Port of Barcelona is only Spain's third largest container port—it does not even rank among the world's top fifty. In contrast, the Port of Antwerp is Europe's second largest and the world's 14th busiest container port, and it also holds great significance for Belgium's economy.

In fact, I cannot even find the name of this port in the latest edition of the world's busiest container ports list. Add Dike Kokaral dam

Single-handedly the reason why the north aral sea is not drying up anymore unlike the south aral sea, which keeps drying up, as the syr darya river, a level 4 vital article, ends at the north aral sea, a level 5 vital article, and keeps water from flowing southward so water in the north could stay consistent. Also, the dam helped revitalize the fishing industry to acceptable levels around the north aral sea, and is extremely important to the region around the northern aral sea, and Kazakhstan.    Compared to some dams at level 5, I feel like the dike kokaral dam would sit in the middle in terms of importance, and higher than some dams, like the Grand Coulee Dam that created the reservoir of Franklin D. Roosevelt Lake, but that's a really long lake and not really centered like the north aral sea, despite being the largest lake in washington and wasn't that large before the dam was built, the Bratsk Hydroelectric Power Station, despite being impressive in sheer watts produced, is also in a similar situation like the grand coulee and it's lake, and is in Russia, and the Rogun Dam, is under construction.

   The dike kokaral dam is unique in the sense that it's keeping a remanant of a formerly huge lake back then up at acceptable levels, and unlike the South Aral Sea, which blows lots of toxic dust due to it being almost completely dried up, and the remanining water areas have extreme salinity levels, the north aral sea now has acceptable salinity levels for saltwater fishing and is the largest remanant of the former Aral Sea, a level 4 vital article, and right now is roughly compariable to Poyang Lake, another level 4 vital article, and even made the sealevel come much closer to the city of Aralsk, the largest city around the aral sea and was the largest fishing hub around the former aral sea before it's collapse, though it has somewhat recovered now, but not pre-1964 levels.

Qt is a very important stylesheet language that's used in a lot of interfaces, like KDE Plasma, LG webOS, Ableton Live, DaVinci Resolve, Krita, OBS Studio, QBittorrent, TeamViewer, VLC media player, and much more, and although not as important as CSS, which is basically the presentation and Web design part of virtually every webpage of the Internet, and is undergoing nomination to level 4, Qt is still important due to it's very wide usage across software and interfaces, and i feel would be the perfect 2nd stylesheet language to include at level 5 or above. Swap Continental Europe Synchronous Area with Battersea Power Station

So we apparently we have a section for energy-related structures, with the Continental Europe Synchronous Area being its only article. Now, I'm not sure if we need this section, but regardless I think the Battersea Power Station would be a better fit. Admittedly, it's largely known for being on the cover of Pink Floyd ◎ 4's Animals (which is not one of their three albums we have on here), but it is one of the largest buildings made from brick.
