Welcome to Files for Upload, part of WikiProject Articles for creation. This process was created to allow unregistered users to add new files to Wikipedia with the assistance of experienced Wikipedians. If you would like to upload an image yourself, you can create an account and after four days and 10 edits you will be autoconfirmed and able to upload files. However, please consider uploading free files over at Wikimedia Commons (guide here).

If you are an experienced editor, then you can help out by reviewing requests. Make sure you're familiar with Wikipedia's policies on non-free content (or simplified version). Learn about Wikipedia's various copyright tags. Read the guide on how to review file upload requests. Note that this page's editnotice contains an expandable cheat sheet with all the templates used in reviewing requests. After uploading the file tag its talk page with {{subst:WikiProject Articles for creation/article}}. Remember to subst all templates. Notify the requester at their talk page using {{subst:ffu talk}} ~~~~ whenever you act on their request. You are responsible for anything you upload, so make sure you are comfortable that the file satisfies Wikipedia's policies first. If the file is non-free, then you must insert the file in the appropriate article right away in order to comply with the non-free content criteria.

Description: A low-resolution crop of the historical portrait of Omu Okwei reproduced as the plate facing page 91 in Felicia Ifeoma Ekejiuba's chapter “Omu Okwei of Osomari”, in Bolanle Awe (ed.), Nigerian Women in Historical Perspective (Sankore, 1992). The National Library of Nigeria scan places the portrait on PDF page 98 (printed plate page 90).

Omu Okwei died in 1943, no freely licensed portrait of her is known, and a single low-resolution image would be used only for visual identification in the infobox of her biography. The use is minimal, educational and non-commercial; it would not replace the market for the original photograph or book, and no free equivalent could be created.

Link to license information: The scholarly source and image provenance are given in the National Library of Nigeria scan above. The underlying photograph's author and copyright status are not identified in the publication, so a conservative non-free-use rationale is requested rather than a Commons upload.

Article to be used on/reason for upload: Omu Okwei. The subject is a deceased historical figure, and the article currently has no image that identifies her. I've added some important information to your user talk page about Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure, and Wikipedia:Username policy#Promotional usernames; so, I strongly suggest you take a close look at what's written on those pages before doing anything else. You should pay particular attention to Wikipedia's paid-contribution disclosure policy and make sure you comply with it asap if it applies to you; a failure to do so is a violation of the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use and almost always leads to an account being blocked by a Wikipedia administrator. You should also seriously consider either changing your username to something else or modifying your current choice so that it's in accordance with Wikipedia's username policy because accounts with non-compliant usernames also tend to end up being blocked.
  As for your above request, there only appears to be a minor difference between File:Bearpaw.svg (the logo currently being used) and the logo you've linked to above. The new version can be uploaded, but you should still resolve the concerns about your possible connection to Bearpaw (brand) and your choice of username.   Thanks for the guidance. I’ve added the required paid-contribution and conflict-of-interest disclosure to my user page, and I’ve submitted a request to rename the account from “BEARPAW Brand” to “Todd at BEARPAW” so it clearly represents me as an individual rather than the company.

  Regarding the logo itself, I understand the visual differences may appear relatively minor, but the submitted SVG is the current official BEARPAW brand mark and the existing File:Bearpaw.svg represents the previous version. The updated mark includes revised letterforms/typography and an updated paw treatment, so my intent is simply for the infobox to accurately reflect the brand’s current official logo.

  I’ll avoid directly editing the BEARPAW article and will use talk-page/edit-request processes for BEARPAW-related changes going forward.   @BEARPAW Brand: Thank you for dotting all of the required i's and crossing all of the required t's by properly declaring your paid-contributor status. This should make updating the logo a non-issue. The only "issue" might be whether the new version is also a vector version. If it is, someone will just need to go to the existing file's page and click on "Upload a new version of this file" since the changes are comparitively minor: you might even be able to do that yourself once your account has been WP:AUTOCONFIRMED. The adavantage of doing it this way is that the new version will authomatically replace the old version everywhere it's currently being used because the file name remains unchanged; in other words, neither you nor anyone else will need to edit the "Bearpaw (brand)" article at all. If, though, the new version is in another format (e.g., png), then it should be uploaded as a new file, which means that article will need to be edited to replace the old file's syntax with the new file's syntax. You should have no problem doing this yourself since it's a pretty non-contentious thing to do, but you can also request the change be made by making a WP:EDITREQUEST at Talk:Bearpaw (brand).

  Finally, one thing you might want to consider is whether Bearpaw's logo is even complex enough to be eligible for copyright protection under US copyright law. No offense intended to whoever designed the logo, but the only element that might potentially be eligible for copyright protection under US copyright (in my opinion) is the paw and that's kind of simple shape as such things go. You might want to ask about this at c:COM:VPC over at Wikimedia Commons just to see what others may think. FWIW, lots of people uploading company logos just upload them as non-free content to play it safe because they think anything that's trademarked must also automatically be eligible for copyright protection. That, however, is not really how copyright law works. In addition, Wikipedia's COI guidelines and paid-contribution policy don't apply to Wikimedia Commons (it's a different member of the Wikimedia Foundation family with its own policies/guidelines). Commons only really cares about the copyright status of the content it hosts and whether it falls within its c:COM:SCOPE; it doesn't care too much about who's doing he uploading and a new account can upload files right away. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:28, 11 September 2026 (UTC)

  @Todd at BEARPAW: I'm not able to daownload/upload files given my current setup, but someone else may do so before you meet the 4-day threshold for autoconfirmed status; if not, you can do it yourself in a few days. Just make sure to leave an edit summary if you do and maybe a post on the article's talk just to mention what you did.

  Finally, you might run into problems with others if you keep signing your posts as your doing (~~~~ + your old username). All you need to do is add WP:4TILDES to the end of your post without the WP:NOWIKI syntax. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:18, 11 September 2026 (UTC)

The current file that exists in the infobox of the Thomas the Tank Engine page is an AI generated recreation of the actual original illustration found in this fandom link. I'm assuming the uploader of that file wasn't aware of it as I don't see the purpose of doing that. If you'd like to take action on that AI generated upload yourself, might be better?? I'm not sure how this works, that's why I'm here.

Hi @BlueStagg thanks for the update... Unfortunately I think you might be misunderstanding this process. Files for upload is for existing, appropriately licensed or for free-use upload eligible images. If you are looking for someone who already has such an image or similar you might want to look at Wikipedia:Requested pictures. Otherwise please provide a URL to a free image.
