How to implement a custom scale

I have added a few maps for São Tomé, which all have custom zoom scales. To covert the normal {osmzoom} variable to each map's custom zoom variable, the formulas are the following:

• São Tomé and Príncipe 1970 Nautical Chart: {{#expr:0.74*({osmzoom}-8)^1.95}}
• São Tomé 1958 Topographical Map: {{#expr:10^(({osmzoom}-12)/3)}}
• São Tomé 1970 Nautical Chart: {{#expr:0.1*(2^({osmzoom}-10))}}
• Príncipe 1962 Topographical Map: {{#expr:1.8^(({osmzoom}-12)*0.8)}}
• Príncipe 1970 Nautical Chart: {{#expr: 1.85^({osmzoom}-11)}}

However using the first { of {osmzoom} creates an error with {{#expr:}}. Would anyone have an idea of a workaround? For the moment the links used a fixed zoom variable, at a rough intermediate level. Mapeh (talk) 19:46, 11 April 2026 (UTC)

Sentinel-2 EO Browser/Sentinel Hub discontinued

The Sentinel Hub EO Browser under Sentinel-2's Satellite column was sunsetted early this year. Links to the EO Browser now show an error page suggesting to use the Copernicus Browser instead. Galen8183 (talk) 20:06, 19 April 2026 (UTC)

Add solar noon in sunrisesunset.com link

Reorganize the countries

I would like to suggest that we reorganize the countries in alphabetical order. They currently are in alphabetical order, but only within the continent categories. These categories are themselves a bit random, both in shape (Europe is divided into two) and in order (North America > Europe (A–M) > Europe (N–Z) > Oceania > Asia > South America > Africa > Antarctica > Arctica > International waters), and basically add a level of unnecessary and hard to explain complexity. I propose that the countries be organized in alphabetical order, a simple standard system that would be much more intuitive for users. Mapeh (talk) 18:53, 17 July 2026 (UTC)

On a side note, it seems that the current order was put in place according to rough cultural proximity to the US: US and her neighbors, rest of Western world (EU, Australia, and their neighbors), non-Western world. Extended-confirmed-protected edit request on 10 September 2026

As of Sept. 10, 2026, Ripple rock is not properly geotagged on this page, nor is it properly plotted on Google Map (I just suggested a correction on Google Map).

I am not sure this entry will eventually automatically synchronize with my edit on Google Map if the latter is accepted.

The correct location of the rock formation is shown on the map at , about 460 m to the SW. Rough coordinates: 50° 7'50.22"N 125°21'16.07"W (or 50.130618° -125.354465° in decimal degrees). Rousselp (talk) 23:14, 10 September 2026 (UTC)

Remove double columns

Would it not be best to remove the double columns? A lot of other (most?) wikis doesn't have two columns, and even here it disappears on mobile devices. The double columns create a few layout issues, especially on lower resolutions, and don't improve the organization of information. I would even say the opposite: they make the page more cluttered.
