fair use in Bone Wars (book)
[edit]
This image, picture-fair-use.jpg, is being linked here; though the picture is subject to copyright I feel it is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:
1. it is a low resolution copy of a book cover; 2. it does not limit the copyright owner's rights to sell the book in any way; 3. copies could not be used to make illegal copies of the artwork on another book;
The book jacket design is by Ann Walston and the art on the cover is by Mark Hallett.
Licensing
[edit]
This image is of book cover(s), and the copyright for it is most likely owned either by the artist who created the cover(s) or the publisher of the book(s). It is believed that the use of low-resolution images of book covers
- to illustrate an article discussing the book in question
- on the English-language Wikipedia, hosted on servers in the United States by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation,
qualifies as fair use under the copyright law of the United States. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, might be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Non-free content for more information.
